2010 Toyota RAV-4 Facelift Debuts
With 7.6 million cars (and counting) of cars lined for recall, it's business not so usual for Toyota. Even though, they are launching the facelift of the RAV-4 Compact SUV at The Gevena Motor Show.
Midlife Facelift for the Vios
The only mass produced and marketed 2009-2010 model sedan not affected by the global Toyota recall casued by sticky pedals is the Vios/Yaris models. To brighten up things a bit more, the Vios has a mid-life facelift and its heading our showrooms soon.
Images you see here are sourced from Toyota Thailand. Looking at the front, very visible are the multi-bar grille, new for-lamp filling, and the bumper.

At the rear, the tail lights seem to have been rearranged juts like what Toyota did with their Innova. To sum up things, the new Vios has a newly designed multi-spoke design tyre.
So when it will hit the showrooms of Toyota Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia? As soon as Thailand gets it, we sure will have it afterwards!

Toyota Introduces Innova Sport Runner
Toyota Motor Philippines sets the stage for the new Year 2010 as they introduce a tougher version of the country’s best-selling commercial vehicle, the Innova Sport Runner. All the passenger car-like comfort offered by the Toyota Innova is packed inside this new variant, with an improved sportier exterior. The Innova SR features new overfenders, side skirts, rear spoiler, new front fog lamp design, 15” alloy wheels in a wider 225 / 55 R15 tires, Sport Runner badge and exclusive black and bronze exterior colors. “The Sport Runner is a fresh addition to the Innova line-up. While the Innova has been consistently performing very well since its 2005 introduction, averaging 900 units per month in sales, we understand that there are customers who are also looking for a tougher or sportier look that will compliment the Innova’s driving performance and riding comfort.
The Sport Runner will be available in 2.5-liter diesel automatic and manual transmissions at Php 1,064,000 and Php 999,000 respectively.

This video is the 30-second preview/teaser of the soon to be unveiled Etios concept at the 10th Auto Expon in India to be held on the 6th-10th of January. Quite interesting as Toyoyta says this will be the new global compact car standard. We wonder too whether this will replace the Vios which has been selling very very very well here in Manila and elsewhere in Asia.

Toyota: Still The Best Auto Brand for 2009.
The Japanese car maker is the 6th most valuable brand in the world and the most valuable among car manufacturers with Brand equity valued at $31.33 Billion. Hyundai and Ferrari jumps to higher places; Lexus, Harley Davidson struggle.
In 2008, Toyota saw its first loss in 70 years due to the difficult economic situation. Net revenues decreased about 21 percent and vehicle sales dropped about 15 percent. Even sales of its bestselling hybrid Prius model slowed down when fuel prices moderated after the record highs of the summer. There is even talk that the company may create a separate brand for its Prius, adding larger and smaller models to the line up. The brand would be similar to Toyota’s low-priced Scion and would only be offered in the U.S., where the company did not create a brand around its “Hybrid Synergy Drive“ system. Toyota continues to develop its long-term value, however, building on its existing green credentials, announcing plans to create eco-friendly showrooms. By 2011 it expects to have 100 “green“ dealerships, where most parts of the buildings are made of renewable primary products.

The Prius, sales hit 2 million mark this year
Fuel cell vehicles, electric vehicles, and hydrogen powered vehicles all have an electric motor that makes car run, the only difference is where and how the motors get the power.
Since the beginning car companies have planned, developed, and designed their choice of their own system. We see Toyota going gaga over Hybrid, while Mitsubishi and Nissan-Renault is fanatic about an all electric-powered vehicle; add to it that Honda has released a lease only fuel-cell hydrogen vehicle. That's how unorganized car companies are. As a result we only see a few and expensive hybrid cars on our roads and showrooms. The Prius, for example has been around since 1997, an not much progress has been made with regard to its high cost of production. Hybrid cars sold today are basically unattractive since the price you pay for a hybrid engine will take years to recover the extra cost. So still, what we have right now is a conventional fossil-fuel (gasoline, benzene, diesel) vehicle domaqinated roads.
Hydrogen stations like this is still not a common sight due to high cost of infrastructure.
A group of companies represented by western car makers Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Renault, and Asian superstars Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, have announced they’ve signed a Letter of Understanding concerning the development and market release of fuel cell powered electric vehicles. The car companies aim that there'll be more than a hundred thousand units on the road by 2015.
